Makeup Tricks for Busy Mornings: The 5-Minute Face

There are mornings where you have almost no time to put yourself together. You’re brushing your teeth while putting your shoes on and combing your hair as you button up your shirt. On mornings like these, spending 15-20 minutes on makeup just isn’t an option.

Enter the “five minute face”. This is a makeup routine every woman should have in their bag of tricks. If you choose a few of your favorite must-have products and practice a quick routine that takes no more than five minutes, you’ll feel much more at ease on those crazy mornings. The trick is to choose which products (think no more than five) are your go-to items when you’re in a pinch. You can even keep these in a smaller makeup bag so you can take it with you and do it on the go.

To give you an example, here is my own five minute makeup routine. This is my go-to look for those days where I am rushing to get out the door. It’s incredibly simple, and will work on just about anyone!

1. Concealer

I dab a bit of concealer on my blemishes, and add some under my eyes to help hide any darkness or bags. This is a great way to even out your skin without using foundation.

2. Eyebrows

I love using a bit of a powder or wax to darken and define my brows. This is one of those small steps that can make a huge impact!

3. Mascara

I always put on 2-3 coats of mascara. If I could only have one beauty product to put on in the morning, this would be it. It opens your eyes, makes your lashes look longer, and can make you look more awake.

4. Blush/Bronzer

With a brush, or sometimes just my fingers, I like to dab a small amount of blush to the apples of my cheeks to help give them a glow. If I have extra time, I’ll add a bit of bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks, and around my hairline to give my skin some color.

5. Highlighter

It’s amazing how much of a difference a bit of highlighting powder can make. I dab this on top of my cheekbones, in tear duct area of my eyelids, and right along my eyebrows. This makes me feel glowy and youthful, and brightens up my face on those tired days.

6. Lip Balm

I always keep a tinted balm in my purse to have on hand at all times. As much as I love lipstick and lipgloss, there are days where I need something quick that doesn’t require a mirror to apply. A pink or rose tinted lip balm is perfect to use on your cheeks as a blush as well as your lips!

Five minutes may seem like not enough time to do your makeup, but it totally is. Try timing yourself—you’ll be surprised at how much you can do in such a short amount of time! It may be hard to work quickly at first, but practice always makes perfect. You’ll be able to master your five minute face in no time, and will never be without a quick routine ever again.

Makeup isn’t everything, of course, but a little bit is sure to give you a boost of confidence during your busy day! ♥
