On Trend: Summer Maxi for Day or Night

Filed under Fashion Look Your Best on May 15 13 by

The summer maxi skirt trend might just be my favorite (okay, maybe I say that for everything!). But honestly, there is nothing I love more than throwing on a maxi skirt to make an outfit look complete. They are an effortless way to class up any outfit, and there are so many ways to incorporate them in your wardrobe.

Today, I’ll show you how to wear your maxi skirt for daytime and for evening. Both of these looks are easy to recreate—don’t forget to add a little spin of your own!

Casual Daytime Maxi

During the day, it is important that your maxi skirt outfit be casual and comfortable—and who doesn’t love a little neon for the warmer weather? Paint your nails a fun color, add a lightweight scarf, and put your hair in a fun braid. The gauzy feel of this outfit keeps it dressed down—perfect for a day full of walking, shopping, or running errands. Show those shoulders to catch some much needed sun!

Classy Evening Maxi

For evening, trade in those fun summer colors for something more subdued. Choose a neutral palate for a classier, dressier look. A classic top knot will keep the focus on the outfit, and chunky gold accessories pop off of the black tones. Darker red lips pull the look together. When wearing neutrals, don’t be afraid to play with different textures! The lace against this silk blouse adds more dimension and keeps the eye interested. This outfit is perfect for a night out on the town!

Maxis are sure to stick around all season. With so many fun colors and patterns to play with, the ensembles you can create are endless! What’s your favorite way to style a maxi skirt?

I love the look, and how it’s a great swap for the maxi dress. I can’t do the dress, but I could totally do the skirt! :-)
