Sarah Barnett: Follow Trends, Without the Regret
Filed under Fashion Look Your Best on Apr 25 12 by Featured WritersHi You Are Project readers! My name is Sarah and I blog over at Think Twice Style, where I am completely self involved and take pictures of myself pretending that other people care what I wear. Kidding! I’m here today to talk (write? read? type? ramble?) about some of my favorite trends this spring! When I say trends, you might be thinking, “Trends mean I will hate these photos of myself in 10 years.” We can all relate to that fuchsia sweatsuit with glitter fabric glued butterflies all over. Am I right? Here’s to being trendy, without that feeling of regret in a year!
On to the clothes…
1. Pink
When I was little, I had pink everything. And fuzzy. Very fuzzy. When I got to be about 10, my non-love for pink began. Until a few months ago, that feeling was prominent when I shopped. But then, then I found this salmon look button-down on sale at Levi’s and I suddenly fell back in love with pink!
Wear it with a neutral and a pinch of sparkle!
Wear it in a color blocked outfit for a blast of color! Warning: You may look like the Valentine’s aisle at the grocery store.
Wear it with monochrome in mind!
2. Primary Colors.
When I get in a shlump, an easy way to fix it is to wear bright colors. Colors have been proven to help your mood—so throw on that yellow blouse and cheer yourself up!
3. Vintage Inspired.
I have a love for anything vintage. Specifically, 50s, 60s, and 70s. I love finding one-of-a-kind pieces at thrift stores or vintage shops and mixing them with modern pieces so it’s not too crazy!
1950s inspired
1960s inspired
1970s inspired
There you have it: A few trends that are easy to incorporate into your wardrobe that can be worn without looking “too trendy”. We still want to love our outfits 10 years from now!

I am 22 years old.
My career (or career goal) I am a special education teacher, a writer, a dreamer, a worshiper, and I also run a non-profit. I only sound cool, I promise.
My favorite fragrance is Johnson & Johnson lavender baby shampoo.
The most played song on my IPOD is “In-A-Godda-Da-Vida” by Iron Butterfly.
I’m secretly terrified of salamanders. Basically anything that has four legs, a tail, and can run faster than me and hide under my bed.
I feel most in love with God when I make a choice to wake up every day and acknowledge that I am an ambassador specifically chosen by Him to do what He has called me to do.
The number one item on my bucket list issing “Half Breed” with Cher and “Queen Bee” with the Babs.
