Big Dreams For 2012

As most of you know, The You Are Project is just getting started, and we have a lot of really big dreams.  The heart of this project is to share love, value, and hope with women of all ages and backgrounds.  Our passion is to go into the dark places and shine a light of love and hope into the lives of women.  It is our desire for every woman to know she is valued, loved and worthy and that her destiny is to be part of something incredible and huge.

2011 was an incredible year. It is the year that will forever be known as the year The You Are Project went from a crazy dream in my notebook to a reality.  Lauren and I met in March or April and then in June discovered we had a very similar passion.  A few weeks later we decided to collaborate, by August we had pulled off our very first photo shoot and obtained a web address. By November 26 we had published an actual online magazine, put together and distributed twenty-five “You Are…” gift bags filled with personalized goodies, and made an entire Thanksgiving dinner for homeless women living on the streets of one of America’s poorest and most dangerous cities.

As exciting as 2011 was, I am even more excited about what 2012 has in store. This is the year that we will attend training that focuses on launching non-profits, apply for and obtain our official non-profit status, obtain training and resources so that we can begin outreach to women working in strip clubs in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area, distribute over two-hundred “You Are…” gift bags, begin making plans for The You Are Project’s first overseas trip to Uganda, and continue supporting organizations with similar passions like She Has A Name (Camden, NJ), Watoto/Living Hope (Uganda) and Operation Jabez (Guatemala).
