Homemade Pico de Gallo

Pico de gallo is one of my favorite toppings. It’s spicy, fresh, healthy, and can be eaten on so many different dishes! Here’s how to make your own:

Pico de Gallo

You will need:

  • One large tomato
  • One medium red onion
  • Green onion (to taste)
  • Fresh cilantro (About 2 tbsp chopped)
  • Fresh garlic (about 1 tbsp minced) or garlic salt
  • Small jalapeño pepper
  • Salt and pepper(to taste)

Pico de GalloDirections:

  1. Dice tomato and red onion. If you’re new to this, here’s some great instructions for how to dice a tomato. Add to medium-sized mixing bowl.
  2. Chop cilantro, green onion, and jalapeño pepper. If you want a spicy pico, add the entire pepper (or even a second one!). If you prefer mild, add just half of the pepper. Add ingredients to bowl along with lime juice and garlic. Mix ingredients.
  3. Finally, add salt and pepper, to taste.

How to eat your pico de gallo:

  • As a dip for your tortilla chips
  • Inside of a quesadilla
  • As a topping for grilled chicken or fish
  • Add to homemade guacamole
