How to Live an Extraordinary Life

In the past, whenever I have liked a guy, something inside of me changes. Besides the obvious change in mood, there’s something about ordinary activities that becomes extraordinary when you have someone you love to share them with. Suddenly, cooking a meal becomes exciting and spending an afternoon moving your furniture into your new apartment is full of laughter and memories.

I think a lot of us tend to leave that excited-for-the-ordinary feeling behind us when our butterflies fade, or when we’re single and simply not in a relationship. We expect that we will feel that way again someday when we have a boyfriend (or if you’re in a relationship, you’ll feel that way when things are back on track, x y or z happens, or you think you’ll just never feel that way again).

If an ordinary moment with a guy I like becomes elevated by his presence, then the ordinary moments I spend on my own should be so precious to me because of the presence of the One that I love more than I could ever love anyone else.

I don’t want to feel like I have to spend my single days waiting for a guy to come into my life just so I can experience things at their fullest. I’m tired of letting myself think that way, but right now I’m even more tired of allowing the women around me to think that way. Relationships are great, but spending all of our time talking and hoping and waiting for them is no way to live. There’s so much inside of us to be explored, so much that God created us to be that we haven’t yet realized. If an ordinary moment with a guy I like becomes elevated by his presence, then the ordinary moments of me sitting in my room reading my magazines for inspiration and belting out Metallica songs because only God can hear should be so precious to me because of the presence of the One that I love more than I could ever love anyone else.

YOU are a talented, driven, passionate, hard-working, creative, funny, and intelligent woman. There is no one on this earth like you, and no one can duplicate the relationship that the Creator wants to have with you. I challenge you to let God’s presence elevate the ordinary moments in your life. I pray that you will realize how extraordinary He really is.
